Series index: Schedule for all 2018 team previews In the midst of a rebuild after last making the playoffs in Custom NFL Jerseys 2013, the Braves have some intriguing young talent around cornerstone first baseman Freddie Freeman, but not enough to be a legitimate contender just yet. The arrival of USA TODAY Sports' Minor League Player of Custom Dallas Cowboys Jersey the Year, outfielder Ronald Acuna, is part of a deep farm system that will make the Braves a team worth watching -- if not this season, then sometime in the not-too-distant future. 2017 at a glance Record: 72-90 (3rd in NL East) Hitting: 20th (4.52 R/G) Pitching: 24th (4.72 ERA) Park Factor, scoring: 16th (0.976) Park factor, HR: 19th (0.951) Arrivals SP Scott Kazmir SP Brandon McCarthy SS Charlie Culberson The Braves have mostly done addition by subtraction so far this offseason, unloading Matt Kemp's contract to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for Kazmir, McCarthy and Culberson (plus the since-released Adrian Gonzalez). Kazmir, 33, and McCarthy, 34, are both coming off Custom New England Patriots Jersey injury-plagued seasons and should fill spots at the back end of the starting rotation if they can stay healthy. If not, several high-upside young arms who've already had a taste of the majors are anxiously waiting for their shot. Players to watch 1B Freddie Freeman OF Ender Inciarte Freeman was having an MVP-caliber season until he was hit by a pitch in mid-May that broke his wrist. When he came back, he played through lingering pain, but still managed to finish with a .307 average, 28 homers and a .989 OPS. He even voluntarily changed positions to ease a roster crunch, but -- unfortunately for fantasy owners -- appeared in only 16 games at third base, four short of what he'd need to qualify there in 2018 drafts. Inciarte, 27, set career highs across the board with a .304 Custom Houston Texans Jersey average, 11 homers, 93 runs scored and 22 stolen bases. He's an excellent leadoff man and his counting stats should continue to rise as the Braves offense improves. Sleepers SP Sean Newcomb 2B Ozzie Albies Newcomb, 24, posted excellent strikeout totals (108 in 100 innings), but control issues have plagued him throughout his career. A 4.32 ERA and 1.57 WHIP reflect that. Any improvement in the lefty's walk rate (5.1 BB/9) could translate into a Robbie Ray-like breakout. Albies made his MLB debut last season at age 20 and held his own over nearly 250 plate appearances. He has excellent speed and instincts on the basepaths, with 102 steals in 130 attempts over four minor league seasons. And some unexpected pop in his bat as well for someone who's 5-8 and 155 pounds.
