Take the case of FIFA 18 Coins

  • Take the case of Barca, arguably the most iconic football club in the world, which, until a few years ago was perhaps the only top team that did not have any advertising on its shirts. Enter the Qataris with their millions in FIFA 18 Coins sponsorship with the initial spectacle of even a charitable foundation being a sponsor. In fact, hitherto Barca was paying the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) US$1 million a year as its contribution to good causes.

But the entry of the Qataris meant adios to the innocence of Barca.Football it seems has lost its paradise because of the greed culture and corruption. If Leicester City’s triumph starts to help restore that innocence of the beautiful game, then it augurs well.It is up to the Srivaddhanaprabha family not to be tempted to cream off the millions the success will bring, especially with a lucrative new TV deal in place and the lure of Champions League football next season, and to show a refreshing commitment to develop the club and its facilities to build a sustainable future.Mushtak Parker is an experienced journalist based in LondonAn administrator extraordinaire | New Straits Times | Malaysia General Business Sports and Lifestyle News

One of Malaysia’s finest sports administrators passed away on Saturday. Datuk Seri Paul Mony Samuel was a friend to many and a foe only to those jealous of his capabilities as he had, throughout a lifetime dedicated to football, touched many. He never bore a grudge even when the FA of Malaysia, which he served with dedication for 15 years as the general secretary, was a constant target for critics. Datuk Paul, as this writer referred to him, always accepted the blows aimed at FAM on his chin as he stoutly defended a national body whose glory days had long disappeared over the horizon.

For Datuk Paul, FAM was his family and he looked after it seven days a week. He took criticism against FAM personally and would call sportswriters to give them a piece of his mind when he felt a particular article was unwarranted or unfair. This FIFA Mobile Coins would lead to the writer being summoned to his office on the third floor of Wisma FAM for what would start off as an argument and end amicably over a cup of Chinese tea. In fact, no sportswriter ever feared being summoned to Datuk Paul’s office as it was a foregone conclusion that the meeting would end on a happy note.
